FKDL Exhibition for the Inauguration of the Cultural Center of Allauch

Famous filmmaker and writer, academician Marcel Pagnol (1895-1974) is a key author of the 20th century. Topaze, Marius, Fanny, The Baker’s Wife, Manon des Sources and The Well Digger’s Daughter are still very successful. Inspired by his childhood in the hills of Provence, Marcel Pagnol built his work on the characters and feelings of his characters. For the first time, his grandson Nicolas Pagnol opens the family’s private archives: photographs, unpublished documents, manuscripts and correspondence. He brings back to life great moments of French cinema and tells with tenderness the exceptional story of his grandfather, whose private life was marked by joys but also by dramas. Marcel Pagnol, writer, filmmaker and producer, who was president of the Cannes Film Festival, was also a solitary researcher with a passion for science and the invention of unusual objects.
In Marcel Pagnol, l’album d’une vie (Marcel Pagnol, the album of a life), Nicolas Pagnol gives us, with more than four hundred photographs, the story of an outstanding personality.
