The audio-hike “In the footsteps of Marcel Pagnol offers you to discover the hinterland of Marseille where Marcel Pagnol shot “Manon des Sources, Ugolin, Jofroi, Angèle, Regain” but also the places of his childhood; the village of La Treille, the Bastide Neuve and the hills of “La Gloire de mon Père”. Thanks to unpublished audio archives provided by the Pagnol family, you will be guided by the voice of Marcel Pagnol and his grandson Nicolas. You will walk through the settings of the films of the “great Pagnol” and the vacation spots of “little Marcel”.
Places visited: Marseille canal, Saint-Esprit bars, Marcelin valley, Pagnol’s country panorama, Passetemps valley, bastide-neuve, Pascaline, Treille village, Treille cemetery, my mother’s castle, Marcel Pagnol’s studios location.
Marcel Pagnol Communication and the company Dans la cour des grands, offer you the Marcel Pagnol* theatrical walks
4 Last exceptional performances of “The Baker’s Wife” from October 12 to 20, 2013
Discover this unique concept in France “art of the hills” which links theater and hiking.
Marcel Pagnol was among the first directors to leave the movie studios to shoot his films, as early as the 1930s… This is the reason why the theatrical tours take place in the very places where the author brought his characters to life. Going back to the source, to the humanity and universality of the work, taking Pagnol’s characters out of theaters and books to give them back to the real life they belong to. This is the artistic approach of ultra realism that drives the company Dans la cour des grands.
Aimable, the recently installed village baker, discovers one morning that his young wife has left with a handsome shepherd. He refuses to bake bread until she returns… The individual drama takes on a collective dimension. Everyone will have to mobilize and overcome their grudges.
Experience the work from the inside
After ” Manon des Sources ” discover for the third season of success the theatrical walk ” La Femme du Boulanger “.
During a walking tour of about 10 km, in a rare and preserved environment, live one of the most famous films of the author adapted from Jean le Bleu by Jean Giono.
Discover step by step the work from the inside, not as a spectator, but as a resident of the village living the moments of joy and the moments of drama which take place throughout a day entirely scripted; it is this immersion in time and space which creates the force of this spectacle.
Playing in the places and landscapes that inspired Marcel Pagnol’s work is the particularity of our creations. For “La Femme du Boulanger” our choice was the departmental domain of Pichauris, an exceptional site in the northeast slope of the Garlaban, in Allauch, which allows us to discover an entirely preserved Provence.
“A universal and incomparable author, magical hours, an extraordinary concept and what actors…!”
“In addition to the talent, they have the passion. A big thank you…”
